"I would tell you more of him, but how shall I ? When love becomes vast ; love becomes wordless. And when memory is overladen it seeks the silent deep."
Khalil Gibran.
"Ebb and flow in friendship " as the title describes is the poem on the phase of unforeseen fluctuations in friendship. The phrase Ebb and flow refers to rhythmical pattern of decline and regrowth. Decline as the impenetrable silence invades in friendship and regrowth with the reminders of the vivid memories of beloved friend. The expression makes reference to the regular movement of tides whereebb means move away from the land and flow move back towards it again.
EBB AND FLOW IN FRIENDSHIP
Tendrils of space kept me captive,
Musk perfume of your fond reminiscence
leads me back to my home.
A myriad of sanctifying memories
enshrined in temple of my heart.
Emerald memories
Of those soulful glances and your sunny radiant smile.
Of the sweet sounds of your sublime soft crooning.
Of the mystical aura that would illume the entire realm with your presence.
Of inexplicable metallic bond and profound trust that we share.
Of truth beneath the surface lies.
Of pencil secrets.
Of blissful divine moments unforgettable
And all the days of yore.
I keep them safe
Like a creamy lustrous pearl well guided in its oyster.
But,
The tale of eternal friendship faded in saffron dust of time.
It is a three stanza poem, with mild change in effect and mood in each paragraph. Notice how the first few lines rationalize the reasons for daunting void created by the course of time and how the emotions flow back with the warm recollections.
And as you continue reading , observe how the second para begins with the a conjunction word "but'' introducing idea that contradicts with the old fantasy of the first para and brings back to present reality, how time and silence has created a catastrophic rift without the enunciated or intelligible explanation.
and again witness the effect of rhetoric plea and burning desire and longing as the poem courses it end.
Hope the composition brings the pleasure as you go through it. Happy reading !
"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars."
Khalil Gibran.
Eagle is often delineated by its strong untamed imperial nature, powerful vision and monotonous discipline. Known for mightiness and strength. Its principles let it stand out from the rest that often Great personalities are allegorized with eagle. Due to its ability to fly extreme heights , it has been used many poets in metaphorical sense.
Rebirth of Eagle is a motivational poem depicting, no matter how great, strong and powerful creature you are, there would be times when you would go through the painful changes in life. And in the end what you faced and come through will define you.
The poem illustrate the phase of eagles life in its thirties when eagle undergoes agonizing change regardless of all the strength, when its beak gets bent, feathers become hard and get cemented to its body and claws loses the grip. And the mighty eagle is left with two choices of either going through the painful transformation and get bestowed with forty more years or die of famishment. Known for its daredevil disposition eagle chooses to tantalize its destiny.
I penned this piece back in 2018 when I was going through a radical change in my life. I wrote this to keep that inner zest alive. Back then I never knew this side of me. All I can say now is ,it helped me nurture the hope in my soul and retain to believe in big dreams.
And as Kemi Sogunle said “The tests we face in life's journey are not to reveal our weaknesses but to help us discover our inner strengths. We can only know how strong we are when we strive and thrive beyond the challenges we face.”
I hope the poem inspires you. Happy Reading!
REBIRTH OF EAGLE
Eagle thou queen of all bird royalties
Higher your courage, wisdom and moralities.
Higher strength, vision and power you own,
What tales there are of your valour unknown!
When you sore high to kiss the sun; others fly
in the lower frontiers of the sky.
When stormy rain gust in boisterous
Others find shelter and you fly over nimbus.
Alas! the age of thirty brings you torrid
You lose vigour, become weak and torpid.
Your long sharp beak curls in bent
Old aged heavy wings due to thick feathers stuck to chest.
Making it difficult to sore away
Your long and flexible talons now can no longer grab prey.
Paralyzed eagle in Dilemma and contradiction
whether to face difficulties or die of starvation.
Venturer by blood, majestic eagle facetiously embrace death,
Choose to go through painful change and tempt faith.
Fly to top of mountain and sit in its nest
There it knock its beak on rock against
Knocks and knocks until the beak plucks out
And wait in patience for new beak to regrow and sprout
With the novel beak it tug its talon
And hold on with endurance till its claws burgeon
Via its new talons it snatches its old feathers
Which regrows soon and you are ready to touch aether
After pentamerous moon, you take a famous rebirth flight
Laurels! you get forty years of new lease of life.
