"I would tell you more of him, but how shall I ?
When love becomes vast ; love becomes wordless.
And when memory is overladen it seeks the silent deep."
Khalil Gibran.
"Ebb and flow in friendship " as the title describes is the poem on the phase of unforeseen fluctuations in friendship. The phrase Ebb and flow refers to rhythmical pattern of decline and regrowth. Decline as the impenetrable silence invades in friendship and regrowth with the reminders of the vivid memories of beloved friend. The expression makes reference to the regular movement of tides where ebb means move away from the land and flow move back towards it again.
EBB AND FLOW IN FRIENDSHIP
Tendrils of space kept me captive,
Musk perfume of your fond reminiscence
leads me back to my home.
A myriad of sanctifying memories
enshrined in temple of my heart.
Emerald memories
Of those soulful glances and your sunny radiant smile.
Of the sweet sounds of your sublime soft crooning.
Of the mystical aura that would illume the entire realm with your presence.
Of inexplicable metallic bond and profound trust that we share.
Of truth beneath the surface lies.
Of pencil secrets.
Of blissful divine moments unforgettable
And all the days of yore.
I keep them safe
Like a creamy lustrous pearl well guided in its oyster.
But,
The tale of eternal friendship faded in saffron dust of time.
Evanesced
As we walked into this unfathomable abyss
Into this deep aching chasm of silence
With thousand conundrums of why?
O rider on the back of silence!
Will you not turn your caravan,
And come to city of words?
O wanderer , misguided!
Wandering in the desert of solitude,
In the forest of fears,
Will you not return?
For someone pine for you,
Yearns to hear your voice
Will you not come?
Lets end our fast of crystalline quietude.
Areba...
It is a three stanza poem, with mild change in effect and mood in each paragraph. Notice how the first few lines rationalize the reasons for daunting void created by the course of time and how the emotions flow back with the warm recollections.
And as you continue reading , observe how the second para begins with the a conjunction word "but'' introducing idea that contradicts with the old fantasy of the first para and brings back to present reality, how time and silence has created a catastrophic rift without the enunciated or intelligible explanation.
and again witness the effect of rhetoric plea and burning desire and longing as the poem courses it end.
Hope the composition brings the pleasure as you go through it. Happy reading !
